JAHZEEN was a tourism learning management system developed for Palestine’s post-COVID tourism recovery. It was designed to keep the workforce engaged, support safety readiness, and help tourism professionals prepare for reopening during a period of movement and gathering restrictions.
The platform was informed by the Tourism Workforce Survey, which assessed workforce concerns, digital capacity, and upskilling needs during the crisis. JAHZEEN translated that evidence base into a digital learning environment for different professions across the tourism value chain.
Built quickly using open-source software and proprietary code, the platform included 74 courses delivered in bite-sized modules with audio narration, destination-specific visual design, multilingual content, and certificate-based completion. Courses covered front desk operations, food and beverage services, housekeeping, tourist transport, guiding, camel operators, and other tourism professions.
During its first year of enrollment, JAHZEEN supported more than 5,000 active members, more than 12,000 completed courses, and certificate workflows connected to mandatory regulatory exams for tourism reopening. It was adopted by the Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities and the Palestinian Tourism Recovery Workforce as part of the destination’s recovery response.
This case reflects my work in digital capacity building, crisis recovery, tourism eLearning, and large-scale workforce support: turning urgent sector needs into a practical learning platform for public-sector and development-program use.
