The Destination Palestine OpenData Repository is a digital tourism infrastructure project for the Palestine Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities. It was developed as an offspring of the EJTDP Digitalization Support work with GIZ, responding to the need for a shared national repository of tourism assets, media, and structured destination data.
I was commissioned as a tourism digitalization consultant to design, implement, and document the repository as an open-source and open-data service for the tourism sector. The system was created to make Palestinian tourism assets easier to access, organize, reuse, and distribute by public-sector teams, industry stakeholders, developers, and tourism-content creators.
The repository combines digital media, tourism data points, metadata, API logic, developer tools, and WordPress plugin work. Its purpose is not tourism photography as a standalone activity, but the digital server and data infrastructure needed to make destination information more usable across websites, platforms, campaigns, and future tourism applications.
The open-data approach supports quality, transparency, and collaboration in tourism marketing and content creation. By giving stakeholders access to structured tourism assets and media, the project helps strengthen digital destination management and creates a practical foundation for innovation, entrepreneurship, and coordinated tourism promotion.
This case connects my work in donor-supported tourism digitalization, public-sector tourism infrastructure, and destination data systems. It also links conceptually with field-facing asset-mapping projects such as Enjoy Jenin and platform-development work such as Trovoyo, where structured content and visitor-facing digital products depend on reliable tourism data.
