I supported WeWorld’s PONTE project in the West Bethlehem Cluster as a sustainable tourism trainer, product-development mentor, and community-based tourism consultant, working with women, youth, and local community participants in Al Jaba’a, Al Walaja, and Wadi Fukin.
The assignment focused on practical capacity building for local economic resilience, tourism livelihoods, and community-based product development. The work combined tourism marketing, branding, hospitality, booking management, and field-based experience design, helping participants connect village assets with realistic visitor-facing products.
The training was structured around two connected tracks. The first focused on Marketing & Branding for small businesses, including social media management, online selling, market opportunities, and basic IT knowledge. The second focused on Hospitality & Community-based Tourism, including reservation and booking management, booking platforms and websites, basic accounting, basic English for reception, tourism social media, and ways to valorize community attractions.
My role included designing the learning flow, preparing training materials, facilitating multiple group training sessions, mentoring participants, and supporting community-based tour development in the participating villages. The field-training component translated classroom learning into practical product development, including visitor flow, storytelling, pricing, communication, and market readiness.
This case reflects my work with donor-funded tourism development programs: combining training, mentoring, field implementation, and sustainable tourism product development to help local actors move from assets and ideas toward clearer, visitor-ready tourism experiences.
