Hantourism: Palestine’s First Community-Based Tourism Platform
Hantourism traces its roots back to a single experiment—an eco-friendly city tour of Jericho using local farmers’ horse-drawn carriages as a sustainable tourism product. This initiative, an extension of the Auberg-Inn Guesthouse in Jericho, sought to add value to the local community while providing visitors with an authentic and eco-conscious experience.
Recognizing the immense potential of innovative community-based tourism products, Hantourism identified a crucial need for a platform to market and promote similar initiatives by independent local suppliers. What began as a horse-drawn carriage tour in Jericho soon evolved into Palestine’s first community-based tourism platform, uniting like-minded independent tourism suppliers and initiatives across historical Palestine. This platform is dedicated to fostering decentralized sustainable cooperation among these diverse stakeholders.
Beyond tourism digitalization as a core value, Hantourism embarked on a remarkable journey to support and nurture the creation of innovative and sustainable community-based tourism experiences.
