I spearheaded the “Tourism Workforce Survey” project in collaboration with the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, a pioneering response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 crisis within the Palestinian tourism industry.
As lockdown measures took hold, the project introduced a digital survey to assess the level of fear among diverse tourism stakeholders, analyzing the risk of skills drainage due to pandemic-induced fears or economic factors.
The survey also gauged the digital capacity of the tourism workforce and their willingness to partake in digital upskilling programs for a safer working environment. With a highly successful mass distribution and a remarkable response rate, the survey results served as the foundation for subsequent initiatives. These included the creation of a COVID-19 instructions manual, the development and implementation of the JAHZEEN e-learning platform for workforce upskilling and recovery campaigns, and the establishment of Training for Employment programs featuring targeted upskilling courses across various segments of the tourism value chain.
